Enrolment ratio in higher education to be almost doubled in 10 years: HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has set a target of achieving a 50 percent Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Sunday said the government has set an ambitious target of achieving a 50 per cent gross enrollment ratio (GER) as compared to the current 26.5 per cent in higher education by 2030 to equip the working population with employable skills. The minister was speaking at a function in which he felicitated 87 meritorious students from across the country here on the Republic Day.

An official release said Pokhriyal highlighted that India has one of the world's largest education systems with over 1000 universities, 40,000 colleges, 10725 standalone institutes, more than one crore teachers, 16 lakh schools and 34.6 million (34.6 crore)
students.

He added that India has largest number of youth population and this strength can make the country a global superpower and an economic giant.
"The government has set an ambitious target of achieving a 50 per cent gross enrollment ratio compared to the current 26.5 per cent in higher education by 2030 to equip its working population with employable skills," he said.

He said the government is committed to providing quality innovative education to all students which pave the way for multi-faceted development.

தற்போது இந்தியாவில் உயர்கல்வி மேற்கொள்பவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 26.5 சதவீதமாக உள்ளது. இந்நிலையில் இருந்து 50 சதவீதமாக அடுத்த பத்தாண்டுகளில் உயர்த்த அரசு இலக்குநிர்ணயித்திருப்பதாக மனிதவள மேம்பாட்டு அமைச்சர் ரமேஷ் பொக்ரியால் நிஷாங்க் ஞாயிறு அன்று தெரிவித்தார்.

2030-ம் ஆண்டுக்குள் 50 சதவீதம் பணித்திறனுடன் கூடிய பட்டதாரிகளை உருவாக்கவிருப்பதாக அவர் கூறினார். குடியரசு தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு புதுடெல்லியில் நடைபெற்ற நிகழ்ச்சியில் ஒன்றில் பங்கேற்றபோது இதனை அவர் தெரிவித்தார். இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் நாடு முழுவதிலும் இருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட 87 திறமையான மாணவர்களுக்கு விருது வழங்கி அவர் கவுரவித்தார்.

மேலும் இது குறித்துப் அமைச்சர் ரமேஷ் பொக்ரியால் பேசுகையில், “உலகின் மிகப் பெரிய கல்வி அமைப்பை கொண்ட நாடுகளில் ஒன்று இந்தியா. 1000 பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள், 40 ஆயிரம் கல்லூரிகள், தனித்து இயங்கும் 10,725 கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள், ஒரு கோடிக்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஆசிரியர்கள், 16 லட்சம் பள்ளிகள், 34 கோடியே 6 லட்சம் மாணவர்கள் கொண்ட நாடு இந்தியா. இந்தியாவிடம் அதிக எண்ணிக்கையிலான இளையோர் மக்கள் தொகை உள்ளது.

இந்த பலத்தைக் கொண்டு உலக அளவில் சக்திவாய்ந்த நாடாகவும் பொருளாதார ஜாம்பவானாகவும் இந்தியா உருவெடுக்க முடியும். இந்நிலையில், தற்போது 26.5 சதவீதத்தினர் உயர்கல்வி பெற்று வரும் நிலையில் இருந்து 2030-ம் ஆண்டு வாக்கில் 50 சதவீதத்தினர்வரை உயர்கல்வியில் சேரும் நிலையை அடைய வேண்டும் என்ற உயர்ந்த குறிக்கோளை நோக்கி அரசு செயல்பட்டுவருகிறது. இதன் மூலம் பணிபுரியும் வயதுவரம்பைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களை பணித்திறனுடன் கூடியவர்களாக உருவாக்கத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.

புதுமையான கண்டுபிடிப்புகளை ஊக்குவிக்கக்கூடிய தரமான கல்வியை அனைத்து மாணவர்களுக்கும் வழங்கி அவர்களைப் பன்முக வளர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்களாக வளர்த்தெடுக்கும் நடவடிக்கையில் அரசு ஈடுபட்டுள்ளது.” இவ்வாறு அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.
