Kid Anand’s parents bought him the latest model of butler robot. As soon as it arrived, it started cooking, cleaning, ironing and more. On that first day, when Anand went to sleep, he had left his bedroom in a truly disastrous state. When he woke up the next morning, everything was perfectly clean and tidy. Now Anand couldn’t find his favourite t-shirt, nor his favourite toy. The same was starting to happen with other things. Anand cast a suspicious eye on the gleaming butler robot. Finally caught it red-handed, picking up one of his toys to hide it. He complained to his parents. But they did not pay heed.
One day, while the robot was whirring past him, it heard the boy’s complaints. The robot returned with one of the boy’s toys, and some clothes of him. “The objects were left on the floor. I therefore thought that you did not like them. I am programmed to collect all that is not wanted, and at night I send them to places where other humans can use them. I am a maximum efficiency machine. Were you unaware of this?” the robot said, with a certain pride. Anand started feeling ashamed. He never took care of anything.
Since then, Anand kept his room tidy, and made sure he didn’t have more than what was necessary. Along with his good friend, the robot, he gave excess things to those who needed them.

தவறி​ழைத்தது ரோபோட் அல்ல

சிறுவன் ஆனந்துடைய பெற்றோர் அவனுக்கு ஒரு நவீன ‘பட்லர் ரோபோட்’ வாங்கித் தந்தனர்.
வந்தவுடனே அது சமைத்தல், சுத்தம் செய்தல், இஸ்திரி செய்தல் என பல வேலைகளை செய்தது. வழக்கம்போல தனது அறையை அலங்கோலமாக வைத்துவிட்டு அன்றிரவு ஆனந்த் தூங்கச் சென்றான். மறுநாள் காலை விழித்தபோது அந்த அறை வெகு சுத்தமாகக் காட்சி அளித்தது. ஆனால், ஆனந்துக்கு விருப்பமான டீ ஷர்ட்டைக் காணவில்லை, ஒரு பொம்மையும் காணவில்லை. நாளடைவில் வேறு சில பொருட்களும் மாயமாக மறைந்தன.

தனக்கு புதிதாக அளிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த பட்லர் ரோபோட் மீது ஆனந்துக்கு சந்தேகம் வந்தது. அவனது பொம்மைகளில் ஒன்றை மறைக்க ரோபோட் முயன்றபோது அதைக் கையும் களவுமாக பிடித்து விட்டான்.

ரோபோட் எவ்வளவு பொருள்களை மறைத்து வைத்திருக்கிறது என்பதைப் பற்றி பெற்றோரிடம் புகார் அளித்தான். ஆனால், அவர்கள் காது கொடுக்கவில்லை.

ஒரு நாள், ரோபோ ஆனந்தை தாண்டிச் சென்றபோது அவன் கூறிய புகார்களை கேட்டது. சற்று நேரத்தில் அவனது சில பொம்மைகளையும் சில மூட்டைகளையும் திருப்பித் தந்தது. “இந்தப் பொருட்கள் தரையில் கிடந்தன, எனவே உங்களுக்கு அவை தேவையில்லை என கணக்கிட்டேன். தேவையில்லாத அனைத்தையும் சேகரிக்க நான் திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன், இரவில் அவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்தக்கூடிய மற்ற மனிதர்கள் உள்ள இடங்களுக்கு அனுப்புகிறேன். நான் ஒரு அதிகபட்ச செயல்திறன் கொண்ட இயந்திரம். இது பற்றி நீங்கள் அறிய மாட்டீர்களா?’ என்று ஒருவித பெருமிதத்துடன் சொன்னது ரோபோட்.

ஆனந்த் அவமானமாக உணர்ந்தான். அவன் எதையும் சரியாக பராமரித்தது கிடையாது. அன்றிலிருந்து தனது பொருட்களை சுத்தமாக வைத்துக் கொண்டான். தனக்கு தேவையானது தவிர அதிகமாக எதையும் வைத்திருக்க கூடாது என்று முடிவெடுத்தான். தனது சிறந்த நண்பனாக ரோபோட் உடன் சென்று, அந்த பொருள்கள் தேவைப்படும் மக்களுக்கு அளித்து உதவத் தொடங்கினான்.
